UX Design — Case Study 03
Eva Konopka Art
A Squarespace redesign that turned a local artist's blog into an art sales website — and helped her sell her first piece online.
Eva's existing Squarespace site was a blog — no e-commerce, no clear navigation, no visual storytelling. The goal: redesign within her existing platform to convert first-time visitors into buyers.
How might we redesign Eva's site so visitors can discover her story, connect with her art, and purchase — all in one experience?
Secondary research, booth observation, visitor interviews, and a competitor audit of local artist websites.
- Quality and price resonated, but the site was hard to navigate.
- Eva's story and creative process were the primary emotional purchase drivers.
- Shoppers aged 26–41 prioritize online and social shopping.
- Supporting the local maker matters to buyers.
- Buyer quotes and photos build trust for first-time online purchasers.
-
Story First
Eva's process and inspiration sell the art.
-
Navigation Friction
The blog buried artwork — pieces were hard to find.
-
Social Proof
Buyer quotes build trust for first-time purchasers.
-
Mobile-Ready
The 26–41 age group shops on mobile — non-negotiable.
Two personas representing Eva's primary buyers grounded every design decision.
Market Buyer
Online Buyer
We chose a new Squarespace template that natively supports e-commerce galleries, customer quotes, and full-width imagery. Colours and type were drawn directly from Eva's artist business card.
